    bullet_ball_blue Seudohypoparathyreosis;
    bullet_ball_blue Vitamin-D-dependent rickets and hypophosphatemic vitamin-D-resistant rickets (phosphate diabetes).

    Rocaltrol Active Ingredient

    The main ingredient of this remedy is calcitriol, which is one of the most useful and important active metabolites of the so much needed vitamin D3. Calcitriol provides intestinal absorption of calcium and regulates bone mineralization. Positive pharmacological effect of one calcitriol dose lasts up to 3-5 days, which is quite a long period.

    The main role of calcitriol in the control of calcium metabolism, which consists in high stimulating of osteoblast activity of the bone skeleton, is a reliable pharmacological base for its long therapeutic effect for osteoporosis.

    Contraindications and Dosing

    Contraindications:

    bullet_ball_blue All diseases that appear with hypercalcemia;
    bullet_ball_blue Hypersensitivity to the main component or to any other component of the drug;
    bullet_ball_blue Hypervitaminosis D, children up to 3 years old.
    bullet_ball_blue Presumably, calcitriol can appear in the breast milk. Taking into account possible hypercalcemia of the mother and adverse reactions of infants, the drug is not recommended during breastfeeding.

    Patients should be careful while taking the remedy if they suffer from the following conditions:

    bullet_ball_blue Pulmonary tuberculosis;

    The initial daily dose is 0.25 mg. An optimal daily dose must be carefully selected for each patient depending on the calcium content in serum. The treatment must always begin with the smallest possible dose, and you shouldn’t increase it on your own, without the recommendation of your healthcare provider. Take the pills with a large amount of the water, with or without food.

    Side Effects

    Since Rocaltrol has an activity of vitamin D, the side effects of the remedy are similar to those that appear when there is vitamin D overdose, i.e. severe hypercalcemia syndrome or strong calcium intoxication (it depends on the severity and duration of hypercalcaemia). Other symptoms may include the following:

    bullet_ball_blue Headache;
    bullet_ball_blue Vomiting,

    bullet_ball_blue Fever;

    bullet_ball_blue Polyuria;
    bullet_ball_blue Dehydration;
    bullet_ball_blue Lethargy;
