Rhinocort is a well-known medication prescribed by doctors to help their patients treat and prevent chronic and seasonal allergic symptoms, including itching eyes, runny nose, sneezing and others. Basically, it belongs to a group of meds called corticosteroids, and it works by decreasing inflammation or swelling in people’s nasal passages. This medication can be taken to treat nasal polyps and prevent their return after being removed surgically.

Tips on How to Take Rhinocort

This medicine should be used in your nose, usually 1-2 sprays in every nostril, either once or twice a day. You need to avoid spraying it in your eyes and be sure to blow your nose before doing anything. It’s necessary to follow basic instructions to prime a spray pump correctly, especially when it comes to first-time users. To use this medication, you need to remove a plastic cap at first, and then you should close your nostril and tilt your head a bit forward to insert a nasal application carefully.

Press on a pump to get the needed number of sprays while breathing in through your nose and keeping your mouth shut. It’s not advisable to spray Rhinocort directly in the nasal septum and blow your nose 15 minutes after its use. Your correct dosage must be based on specific factors, such as individual response and heath condition. That’s why younger patients require smaller doses, and their parents need to help them use Rhinocort correctly. It may take up to a few weeks to get full benefit from this medicine, and patients should keep track of their number of sprays.

    Mild and Serious Adverse Effects

Rhinocort is responsible for causing specific side effects, but most of them are mild and don’t result in any health complications. For instance, the most common ones include:

bullet_ball_blue Signs of new infections and allergies.

    Precautions when Using Rhinocort

If you need to take this medication, there are certain precautions that shouldn’t be overlooked. Inform your doctor if you have any allergic reactions and such health complications as nose and eye problems, infections, etc. The long-term use of Rhinocort and other corticosteroids may make it harder for the human body to respond to stress adequately.

Finally, this medication has specific drug interactions, so you can’t combine it with certain meds to avoid severe side effects, health problems and its decreased effectiveness. Rhinocort shouldn’t be taken together with other similar drugs, such as Prednisone, and inform your doctor about other medications that you’re currently taking, even if they include simple herbal supplements, minerals or vitamins.
