    Medrol is a steroid medication, which prevents the release of substances in a human’s organism that cause inflammation. It’s prescribed to treat a lot of various inflamed health problems: psoriasis, gland and allergic disorders, arthritis, ulcerative colitis and other conditions, affecting skin, lungs, nervous system, stomach and blood cells. The drug can be also indicated for purposes not mentioned here.

    Do not use Medrol if you are allergic to it or currently suffer from a fungal infection. The medication makes your immune system weak, so you can easily get an infection. Moreover, if you are already infected, the steroid can worsen the condition or even reactivate the one you have recently had. Tell your doctor about all the health problems and infections you have had during the last weeks.

    To make sure the drug is effective and safe for you, tell your pharmacist about:

    bullet_ball_blue Pinworms;
    bullet_ball_blue Tuberculosis;

    Ask your doctor for a complete list of health problems, which may interfere with the treatment.

    It’s still unknown whether Medrol is harmful to the fetus. Tell the doctor about being pregnant or plans to become a mom in the nearest future. He/she may decide not to prescribe the medicine to avoid possible unpleasant side effects. It’s also not clear whether Medrol is passed into the breast milk or if it’s harmful to a nursing baby. If you are breastfeeding, certainly tell your pharmacist about it. Steroids are able to affect the growth of a child. Consult your doctor if you see your child doesn’t grow well during the treatment.

    Usage Recommendations

    Carefully read the directions on your prescription label. Your pharmacist may decide to prescribe a different dose to get better treatment results. Do not increase or reduce the amount of indicated Medrol. If you have a surgery, injury or any other infection, your needs for the medication can change. Certainly tell your healthcare provider about taking the medicine. If you have any withdrawal effects, do not stop the treatment.

    What to Avoid

    It’s not recommended to consume grapefruits and grapefruit juice during the treatment, as it can interact with the drug and result in a number of side effects. Make sure you do not get any “live vaccine” while consuming the drug. This includes vaccines against measles, yellow fever, mumps, rubella, zoster, typhoid, rotavirus, chickenpox and nasal flu. Avoid being close to sick and infected people. Call your doctor immediately if there is any exposition to measles and chickenpox. These are very serious conditions and can be fatal for those who take the medication.
