    Description


    Antivert is a medication that belongs to antihistamines, and it’s taken by patients to prevent and treat such symptoms as vomiting, nausea and dizziness resulted by motion sickness. However, some doctors also prescribe it to decrease such signs as dizziness, loss of balance and lightheadedness resulted by different diseases that affect people’s inner ear.

    Basic Guidelines on Its Correct Use

    Antivert should be taken orally, without and with meals, based on directions given by doctors. To prevent motion sickness and its symptoms, patients need to take their initial dosage at least 1 hour before starting any activity, including travelling. Another dose can be taken each 24 hours when needed. To control vertigo and other similar health conditions, take this medication as directed by your physician. Your right dosage much be based on such criteria as your individual tolerance and medical condition.

    Possible Antivert Side Effects

    Like other existing drugs, this medicine may lead to unwanted side effects, but they are rare and most of them are not serious. For example, some patients who take Antivert may experience such signs as:

    bullet_ball_blue Unusual tiredness and drowsiness;
    bullet_ball_blue Dry mouth and allergic reactions.

    If any of these unwanted symptoms get worse, your doctor must be notified instantly. Some people, especially kids, may end up with excitability instead of drowsiness.

    Most users don’t have any side effects associated with Antivert at all. You need to report them to your doctor and get medical help if you have the following serious side effects:

    bullet_ball_blue Seizures and vision changes;
    bullet_ball_blue Painful and decreased urination.

    Important Antivert Precautions

    Before taking the first dose of this medicine, contact your doctor to be properly examined and inform him/her about any possible allergic reactions that you may have. Besides, doctors need to know your medical history, especially if you have glaucoma, breathing problems, seizures and prostate issues. The intake of Antivert can make some patients feel dizzy and drowsy or cause blurred vision, so that it’s not advisable to drive or do other activities that require clear vision and full alertness. It’s also important to limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages when undergoing this treatment. Older patients should be more careful with Antivert, because they are prone to be more sensitive to the side effects caused by it. Pregnant and nursing women are allowed to take this drug only when it’s clearly needed.

    Dangerous Drug Interactions

    There are certain medications that shouldn’t be taken together with Antivert, because they may lead to dangerous drug interactions. They should be avoided by all patients because of serious side effects and other negative results. For example, it’s not allowed to take this medicine with antispasmodics, anticholinergics, tricyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants, etc.
